How the Meridian Gym For All system works.
We run our classes in 10 week blocks, with a specific goal (a badge, rosette or competition) as the goal point for each cycle of lessons. Our classes follow regularly reviewed lesson plans and across the week, each class will experience the same setups and teaching so that everyone gets the same opportunities to learn and progress. Foundation classes and Improvers classes are tailored so that they develop more advanced skills and work more independently as they go along and build up a solid knowledge of the skills and strengths that are needed in gymnastics. Gymnasts do 5 apparatus (vault, trampette, bars, beam, floor, track) in a rotation that ensures they visit each piece at least once a fortnight and most pieces of apparatus every week. Our Advanced classes are invitation only and a progression from Foundation and Improvers.
We currently offer the majority of our taster sessions in a special ‘Active Waiting List’ session on a Saturday at 4pm. Your gymnast can then attend this session until a place comes up in your preferred weekday or Saturday morning session, or you can wait for a place in your preferred session to become available. Places in regular sessions are always offered first to those who are already attending the club via the Active Waiting List.
Gym For All – age 4-9 years old – 1 session per week.
- Our Foundation Classes run at 4pm-5.15pm Monday to Friday and at 9am, 11am and 4pm on a Saturday.
- Our Improvers Classes run at 4.45pm-6.pm Monday to Friday and at 9.45am on a Saturday
- We have a limited number of Advanced classes running through the week; gymnasts are invited to attend these when they graduate from Improvers.
The majority of our current capacity is in our GFA programme and you can register online here. New members are invited to our Active Waiting List session weekly.
General Gymnastics – age 9+ – 1 session a week.
Due to capacity and staff qualification issues, we are currently not able to offer spaces to boys or girls joining the club at age 10+. We hope to resolve this issue in mid 2024.
In our General Gymnastics programme we accommodate girls in groups of around 8 from the age of 10+. We have somewhat limited capacity for gymnasts joining the club in this age group at this time, and most spaces become available on a Saturday from 2-4pm. Sessions run at different times through the week and are for 2- 2.5 hours at a time, normally after 6pm; we are adding more sessions but you may have to wait longer for a place in this programme while we build our coaching staff. You can register your interest online here.
Preschool Adult and Child Classes
We offer 7 preschool parent and child classes during weekdays every week and you can read more about our current preschool provision here. If your gymnast is aged 1-4 years and not at school, please register and you will be invited to our preschool sessions. These sessions only run through term time. You can join during a term and will be charged a reduced rate if you join after the first week of term.
Experienced Gymnasts
Should you child wish to return to gymnastics after previously being a squad member or from another club, please use the GFA booking page above and then email us with details of their experience and any other relevant details.
